Cryopreservation of Plant Tissues in Poland: Research Contributions, Current Status, and Applications

Abstract Cryopreservation of vegetatively propagated plant material is an increasingly widely used method for the efficient and safe storage germplasm resources around world. In Poland, there are currently four cryobanks in use long-term protection programs. However, tissues vitro constitute only a small portion accessions stored them. To date, cryogenic techniques have been developed adopted this country ornamental plants (roses, chrysanthemums, geophytes), crop species (potato garlic), forest tree (the genera Quercus Fraxinus ), some ferns. Polish researchers suspension cultures Gentiana spp. shoot tips Lamprocapnos spectabilis to improve cryopreservation knowledge. A better understanding benefits its widespread implementation biodiversity conservation programs required. The objective review provide concise synthesis scientific contributions, current status, applications culture-derived Poland. First, results contributing research that has achieved using cell suspensions advances related nanoparticles extracts efficiency discussed. Then, radiomutants, chimeras, spp., trees, ferns summarized.
